Skills, how do you use them?

Which is more important? Your skills , or how you use them?

Skills are important, and valuable, yes, and one would like very much to be skilled at what he does. So are certain traits. Some traits are very rare and needed. But when using these skills badly, one would wish they had none.

Make myself clearer:

Examples of a skill or trait and how they can be misused:

1. Being charming, expressive, eloquent and attractive:

Could be used
a. to win people over for good causes, or,
b. could also be used to win people over to evil causes, or to emotionally manipulate people, deceive them etc.

2. Being Very smart

Could be used for:
a. Inventing a cure for cancer or,
b. Inventing biological weapons

3. Being a perfectionist:

could be used for:
a. Constructing a factory or machine perfectly, or,
b. Being an assassin, thief, killer

4. Being a good writer with good command of language:

could be used for:
a. reaching out to people with beautiful meaningful writing, also help those who are not so good with their language, or
b. writing absolute rubbish, or disturbing things, or mocking those who can’t.

millions of examples really, but the thing is, when having skills, if you use them improperly, you are worse than someone who doesn’t have them but at least if has them; would use them properly.

You're absolutely right. Hitler had skills...

The nature of our motives is key.

this is a nice post doshar , you are not only credited by what you have but in how you use it , and those who use it in a wrong way , it changes from a blessing to a curse even if they did not realize that now.

i agree with you Jade , a kind word can get you so far ,

    Doshar,
It may be a total waste for someone to have a skill and use it in a manner which will degrade its value and output. I totally agree with you.
Many people get develop this feeling of " I am better than others" in other words, they become arrogant, pompous and conceited. These are abhorred characteristics which God and his creation do not feel so good about, and therefore must be avoided.

WE must use our skills to help rather than mock or make people feel they are less than we are. Instead of being arrogant why not help others to develop their skills without making them feel they are less fortunate than you are? But what can I say? Satan again and always. We must not let him make us feel those feelings and we must be modest and careful in what we say and do with those whom we feel or know for fact are less than us in skills and other stuff.

Let us also not forget the Prophet Muhammed's advise when he said, Man kan minkom you2men Belleahi wa bel yawm el akher, fal yakoul khayran aw liyasmout.. Who believes in Allah and the day of Judgement should speak goodness, or remain silent (translation as best as i could).

So true ya Doshar... so many examples of what you said in real life everywhere.. the good and the bad... "how you use" what you know is what matters.. not just "what you know" ... we will be asked by God how we used our "3elm" and that just goes to show how important it is...

sometimes i hate myself for having some skills.. like: having my own independent opnion..

belive it or not, sometimes i wish i am never recognized by any1 joining in my talkings. I don't know..
I am sure its a gift God has sent me, but sometimes i like to being that alienated creature away from the crowd..

roora, me , jade, dalulla: yeah i guess this skills or gifts are a test for us, what are we gonna do with them?

lasto adri bardo: why this view? say el hamdo lillah for whatever gift He has given you and use it correctly, and you will then be truly blessed ISA

    Lasto adri*blue*,
If i may, please do not let this feeling take you over. You just acknowledged it was a gift granted.. So do not kick it away or leave it till it gets covered with dust or rusts like iron.

Have confidence in yourself, and always be open to discussions and say your opinion without fearing anything but God.

But let me tell you something, also leave your opionons open to positive and constructive criticism if different than many other's. However sometimes the opinion different to many others is the only right one.. so you must have a base from which u form these independent opinions and relate them to. I hope i said something useful. I usually have many opinions that are different from many around me, but i relate them to religion mostly.. In other words the Quraan and the sunna are my standards of a good base for an independet free opinion. Islam really sets the mind free, especially from fear, of anything.

ya, i totally agree with you dalulla and doshar..
Thanks God for everything after all.

but you know its something i cant describe it though, having this feeling of objection and rebelling. and i truesly sometimes wish i never said what i said: not because its wrong or because its a negative comment or even coz its opposing the tide.. NO..
just i hatewhat i said because its said by me!
so have you got my complex?!

lasto adri: don't know if i got it or not, but you seem too self critical that is all.

it is tough to realize weaknesses or personal flaws, but eventually this feeling will help you out to use it in a way that would make you feel better about yourself ISA.
